Be The Best Version Of Yourself!

Eminent personalities from different fields visit Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School (MAHSS) to share their valuable experiences. This tradition not only provides us an opportunity to interact with such personalities but also gives us the motivation and guidance to deal with various aspects of life as a whole.

In this context, we were honoured and privileged to have a distinguished personality- Mr. Atmaram Nadkarni, Additional Solicitor General of India, and youngest and longest serving ex- Advocate General of Goa amongst us on 12th June 2019, whose words of wisdom shaped our perspectives towards various aspects of life. Adv.Atmaram Nadkarni has played a crucial role in several legal matters of Goa, particularly the strong representation of Goa before the Mhadei Water Disputes Tribunal and the great breakthrough that he achieved in this case. Adv.Nadkarni was cordially welcomed and introduced to us by our beloved Sir and Director of MAHSS Vyankatesh Prabhudesai.
Adv. Atmaram Nadkarni started his talk by highlighting that we should always respect our parents and teachers, have gratitude towards them and never ever forget their constant endeavors to support and make us better individuals in every possible way. He referred to the Sanskrit slogan, ”मातृदेवोभव ,पितृदेवोभव ,आचार्यदेवोभव!” which made a striking relevance with his talk on treating our Parents and teachers with the highest level of regard.

Mr. Nadkarni spoke profusely about how following ones passion can help achieve their goals. Speaking about finding the purpose in life, he advised the young students to spend quality time daily to contemplate and assess their thoughts, their ideas, strengths and weaknesses and such introspection will help them figure out ones goals in life. According to him, fire or passion for perfection and success should always be kept alive and burning furiously. He also mentioned that the journey towards the goal should be passionately enjoyed and during this, one must never give up whilekeeping utmost faith in oneself.

Referring to the famous story of Arjuna’s focus on the bird’s eye, Mr. Nadkarni emphasized on the focused approach in our journey towards our goals. Adding further, he shared a personal incident which happened to him on his work trip in Paris relating to a rumour of a ghost among his colleagues! It was hilarious but it had an underlying message for all of us. The basic idea was to make us conscious of the fact that there is nothing called as ‘fear’. It is just a concept in our minds and the more importance we give to it or rather the more we try to resist ourselves from facing it head on, the stronger it gets leading to a dissatisfied and de-motivated attitude towards life.

One of the most important aspects Mr. Nadkarni highlighted was that of the importance of Integrity in life. “The behavior of a person and the honesty and integrity with which they carry themselves, even when nobody is watching them, defines their character.” This statement made by Mr. Nadkarni was one of the most important lessons we all took home .. Apart from this, he highlighted the importance of discipline, which is a bridge between our goals and accomplishments. He mentioned that Mushtifund Aryaanis a place where the students are not only moulded for academic excellence but also are trained to deal with all kinds of strenuous situations of life as well.

The interaction concluded with an interesting and lively question-answers session on legal issues. This session was entirely coordinated by our Director, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. Mr. Nadkarni answered every query very wisely and with a great sense of humor. It was again highlighted that educational Institutions impart us with knowledge of the prescribed syllabus but apart from this being skillful to life management and self-motivation skills are equally important for being successful.

Mr. AtmaramNadkarni indeed gave us an eye-opening insight about the various aspects of life which henceforth have been etched on our hearts forever. We are also highly grateful to VPD Sir for arranging such an insightful and motivating session.
