On the 5th of October 2021, we, the students of Mushtifund Aryaans Higher Secondary School were provided the golden opportunity to interact with Sir Nitin Kunkolienkar, a dynamic personality who has played  a key role in shaping the electronics landscape of the country.

Sir begun by sharing his thoughts on the exponential growth that has taken place in the field of technology and how it impacts our day-to-day life. He spoke about the 6 ‘D’s – Demonetization, Democratization, Deceptive nature, Dematerialised form, Disruptive nature and Digitization that pertain to and highlight the different aspects of modern technology. An important point that Sir emphasized on is how technology is the bridge between what is scarce and what is an abundant resource. It contributes significantly to the access and acquisition of information and thus development. A mention-worthy example of the same is that of the mega-revolution that is coming our way with the usage of Lithium batteries today.

We then discussed the rapid developments taking place in the field of technology today, for example – the more than 12,000 Starlink satellites that are to be launched by SpaceX, large-scale advancements in the field of biotechnology and agro-genetics with steady progress in genome editing and the like. Sir then made a golden statement – “Internet of behaviour is an extension of Internet of Things, and thus we must evolve accordingly to keep up with the changes that are to be faced by the human race in the near future.”

Sir’s words left a massive impact on us and by the end of the session, we were way more aware (and less ignorant) about the rapidly changing world and our responsibilities towards society, what with the world becoming a global village. At the same time we also realised that there is a downside to this rosy picture and we must therefore be wise enough to learn to integrate nature and technology. Sir’s parting words – “A negative mind will never result in a positive lifestyle and so, whatever you do in life, do it because it gives you pleasure and not because it is an obligation” motivated us immensely. We gained insights on a variety of things thanks to the years of experience that Sir shared with us.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Sir VPD, our director, for providing us opportunities to interact with such world class personalities.
