Good evening all,

I speak forth all today with a heart full of gratitude and a newfound sense of well-being. In today’s fast-paced world, where we often overlook the importance of a healthy lifestyle, Dr Nagaraj Samaga, has shown us the way to a better and more fulfilling life.

We have learned how to embrace nature’s gifts to enhance our health and vitality, from the healing properties of herbs to the importance of mindfulness. Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine, offers a holistic approach to health and well-being. A derangement in the pancha mahabhootas leads to an imbalance in our health, however, Ayurveda is the answer to these problems.

The three main facets of Ayurveda that are responsible for health promotion are, the right food, sleep, and activities, Similar to a tripod stand, all three legs are required to stand upright.

Firstly, food, i.e., aahar nourishes our organs, our mind, and our body. Sir, explained the three qualities of food i.e., satva, raja and tamas, and how they reflect a human’s personality. A balanced diet must have greens because life in the green plants matters. You are what you eat, which is the significant message that sir emphasized. Anything in excess, our inattentiveness towards change, and the mistakes that we commit knowingly are the three causes of our afflictions. However, preparedness is the key here, or else one will have to pay the price. Sir threw some light on pathya and apathya and stressed the fact that following pathya, would eradicate the need for medicines. Sir also gave us an insight into the compatibility of food. We also understood how water can be ‘amrut’ when consumed at the right time and, in the proper amount.

The second pillar is sleep, i.e., nidra which is a physiological state of reduced consciousness. Sir, explained the conscious mind, the subconscious mind, and the primitive mind using a diagrammatic representation. We were explained how dhi, dhriti, and smriti are the prerequisites for any spiritual progress and the importance of Brahmi murata. Sleep is the garage of our bodies. Good sleep improves our brain performance, mood, and health. Sleep during the day and working at night are prohibited as both are against nature and may cause diseases. Activities, be it mental or physical, are not just about fitness but also about mental clarity and overall well-being. Sir also described how activities help produce happy hormones which maintain emotions and prevent sadness. Knowing our limits is crucial for good health else it will be self-defeating.

Sir, quoted a Sanskrit saying उद्यमेन हि सि ध्यन्ति कार्या णि न मनोरथःै! न हि सप्ुतस्य सि हं स्य प्रवि शन्ति मख ुेमग ृाः ! which is, doing the right thing at the right time in the right proportion to achieve success

In conclusion, we are immensely grateful to you sir, for answering our queries patiently and for your dedication to our health and well-being. We are truly fortunate to have had the opportunity to benefit from your profound knowledge of Ayurveda. We pledge to follow your advice and strive for a healthier, happier future. It is an honor and privilege to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the students of Mushtifund Aryaans Higher Secondary, to our esteemed Dr Nagaraj, enlightening us about the vital aspects of Right Food, Sleep, and Activity. Thank you, sir, for being our beacon of health and wellness.
