Know Thy Self

Mr. Rajesh Nayak, a Corporate Investment Banker previously and now a senior faculty at leading SIBM institute Pune, recently visited Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School(M.A.H.S.S.) on the 28th April’16 for an interactive session with the students of STD XII. The Director of M.A.H.S.S., Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai warmly welcomed Mr. Nayak and revealed to the students that Mr. Nayak is a very close friend of his and that they shared very fond memories during their course at the prestigious IISc.

Mr. Nayak comes with over 20 years of corporate experience. He started his career as a Management trainee with Crompton Greaves, in Mumbai. He moved into investment banking after completing his MBA. After a successful track record in investment banking and business development and with over 17 years of corporate career in the US, he has moved to India for personal reasons. His passion for teaching has brought him to join SIBM as a senior faculty.
Mr. Nayak started the interaction with a power point presentation

The story of a little boy!

The little boy in this story was a little different from any other kid of his age. He wanted to play, visit the temple and was inclined towards philosophy. And then as he grew up, what he personally wanted to do in life and what was expected of him was at logger heads. Submerging his wants, he did what was expected of him. He got a dream job in the U.S., a big house, family and all that which qualifies to live a “secured life” . But yet, there was something missing…

This is how Mr. Rajesh Nayak spoke about his journey back home and devoting his life to teaching philosophy, something that he really connected to. The purpose of sharing his experience with the students was to highlight the importance of understanding oneself and to follow and pursue each ones calling. He spoke about how he realised what he was missing and eventually decided to leave a flourishing career in U.S. and come back to India, his alma mater.

Mr. Nayak also threw some light on how every student must understand the shortcomings or the pros and cons of studying and settling abroad, hence helping the students to understand their decision and choices better.
The last portion of the interaction was the Question and Answers session which was coordinated by the Director, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai himself. The students were eager to know more about investment banking and Mr. Nayak answered all the queries with a lot of enthusiasm.

The students were thrilled and thoroughly enjoyed this interactive session with Mr. Nayak.
