On the 28th of October, the students of STD XI, Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School were fortunate enough to meet the esteemed Mr.Vivek Vasishtha, a man whose reputation precedes him, along with Mr. Nitin Kuncolienkar, a renowned Businessman. Both the guests were warmly welcomed and formally introduced by the Director of the Institute, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. Being an Engineer himself, Mr. Vivek talked about the huge opportunities that lay ahead of us and how the perseverance and hard work during these few crucial year is going to be totally worth it!

Mr. Vivek, as an Executive Director, Regulatory Affairs, IBM, drew attention to the fact that the growing technology is changing the world drastically. He then went on to talk about “Watson”, a computer system developed by IBM based on cognitive artificial intelligence. He spoke passionately about how such a tool has applications in all fields, be it the medicine, sports or automobile industry.

To give us an idea about its wide applications, Mr. Vivek spoke about its use in the field of medicine. Nurses or doctors just need to enter the signs and symptoms of the patient and can get a thorough idea about the disease and the best way of treating it with the help of Watson which surveys data from previous cases in a matter of seconds! This amazing system turns out to be so handy for Doctors who need to take tough call when dealing with crucial moments in the life of a patient…

Mr. Vivek, speaking about how technology is shaping the world constantly, hinted at the younger generation to embrace the fast moving change to enhance innovation and to think out of the box! It is imperative these days to make the best use of technology in whichever field we decide to pursue in order to survive.

Mr. Vivek took time off from his busy schedule, but even this brief interaction with the students, was enough for the students to realise that only change is permanent and one must move with changing time. It was a wake up smell of coffee moment for all! The students were caught in rapt attention all through the interaction and could not wait for the question and answer session which was coordinated entirely by the Director, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. Mr.

Vivek answered all the queries enthusiastically and with ease…
The students were left with a new found realisation and were deeply motivated and inspired to follow their calling and make an impact on the world!
