Mushtifund Aryaan Higher Secondary School has had a history of hosting great personalities who are Nationaly and Internationally acclaimed in their respective fields. Recently, the Institute was graced with the presence of the very elegant and talented Marathi, Bolloywood and TV actress – Varsha Usgaonkar. It was a unique and cherishing experience for all of us to get a sneak peak into the most popular and famed film industry.

Varsha Usgaonkar was warmly welcomed and formally introduced by the Director of the Institute, Mr. Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. We all know her famously as one of the leading actresses of the television industry. She made her mark from the very first go when she played the lead actress in her debut Marathi stage play “Brahmachari”.
Subsequently, she quickly rose to one of the top heroines in the Marathi film industry with super-hits such as Gammat Jammat, Hamal De Dhamal, Saglikade Bombabomb, Sawat Majhi Ladki, Shejari Shejari, Ek Hota Vidushak, Lapandaav, Aflatoon and others. She has also starred as the lead actress in the Bollywood films Ghar Aaya Mera Pardesi and Pathreela Raasta. In 2005, she appeared in the Bollywood films Mangal Pandey: The Rising and Mr Ya Miss as a supporting actress. In the Faisal Saif-directed controversial Hindi feature film, Jigyaasa, she played mother to Hrishitaa Bhatt. Usgaonkar started her television career in the 1988 playing role of Uttara, wife of Abhimanyu and mother of Parikshit, (the future of the Bharat Dynasty TV serial Mahabharata).

Currently trending in her famous role in the Konkani Movie Javoi No.1, Varsha Usgaonkar spoke to the students about her journey so far in the industry. The students were very intrigued to hear her life experiences and to realize that life of an actor is not as glamorous as it seems on screen. She told the students about the long working hours they put in as actors and the dedication and perseverance required to master their art to be effortless on screen.
Speaking of her Goan roots, Varsha Usgaonkar, highlighted the importance of being grounded to ones culture and traditions. Learning and speaking the mother tongue should be given immense value in everyone’s life, and she sees this as the first step in preserving our culture and passing down generation to generation.

As the students listened to her in rapt attention, Varsha guided the students to find out their inclinations, work on their skill sets and follow their passions.

The interesting interaction ending with the most awaited question and answer session which was coordinated entirely by our Director, Vyankatesh Prabhudesai. Varsha answered all the queries with ease and enthusiasm. She gave her best wishes to the Institution, to the students and congratulated our Director for the phenomenal success which is nothing but a result of years of dedicated effort in the field of education.
